

Originally from Wheatland, Wyoming, Carl was born on September 5, 1943 to Carlos “Pop” and Cora Linton Bowman.
Carl graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper. He also attended Casper College, South Dakota School of Mines, and graduated number one in his class from the University of Wyoming.
He began his professional career employed by Westinghouse Corporation as a Nuclear Engineer. His lengthy career with Westinghouse allowed he and his family to relocate to several states over the years. He settled in the Columbia area in 1978. Carl transitioned to a position with SCE&G at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Plant in Jenkinsville, SC. from which he subsequently retired. After his retirement he continued working in the Nuclear Field as a consultant for multiple overseas companies.
Carl is survived by his mother Cora Bowman and sister Linda Taylor both of Casper, WY and his daughters, Carla & Kevin Becknell of Lexington, SC, Carrie & Steve Lunceford of Columbia and his grandchildren Koby & Kayla Becknell, Taylor & Carson Lunceford. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Norma Bowman, girlfriend Mollie Crumpton and multiple grand pets and great-grand pets.
Carl enjoyed traveling, history, boating at the lake, offshore fishing, snorkeling, DIY projects, piddling around the yard, sweets but mostly spending time with his family. He spent countless hours attending his grandchildren’s athletic events, band competitions and other school functions. He loved animals and had numerous faithful dogs and horses over the years. Carl shared his love of western movies and American history with his grandchildren and took many trips with Koby to visit historic war sites. Birthdays were always special for the grandchildren, especially when they were younger and their cakes were decorated with horses, army men or princesses. Carl turned his yard into a kid’s fun place where many horse shows took place in the front yard with several ponies over the years. He was always a creative entertainer…. A favorite memory is when he tied four sleds together and pulled the grandkids around with his John Deer during a snowstorm.
He was predeceased by his father Carlos “Pop” Bowman of Casper, WY., and brother, George Lee Bowman of San Diego,CA.
