Erik Joseph Veld

COLUMBIA - Erik Joseph Veld, 38, died Friday, March 12, 2021. Born in West Columbia, SC, he was a son of Susan Anne Brick Veld and the late William Paul Veld. A 2000 graduate of Dutch Fork High School, he worked most recently at Sloan Appliance in West Columbia. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and was an avid sports fan. Erik was very loved by his family, friends, and adored by his nephew. He recently accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He will be greatly missed and loved always. He was my brave boy.

Surviving are his mother, Susan A. Veld of Columbia, SC; brother, Andy Veld (Chrystal) of Blythewood, SC; nephew, Xander Veld; second cousin, Cheri Iovino (Tony) of New York; great-aunt, Joan Brick of Connecticut; aunts and uncles, Susan Bontkes, Winnie Wruck, Peter Veld, and Paul Veld; and numerous other relatives in Canada.

He was predeceased by his father, William Paul Veld.

Special thanks to Stephanie Maroney who took care of him for the last three months making certain he received the care that he needed and Mel Beach for her love and care to the family during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pit Bull Rescue, or an animal rescue organization of one’s choice.
