LEXINGTON – A memorial service for Francis Ray “Fran” Dudley, 90, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Family and friends are also invited to join the family in the Family Life Center, located behind the church, following the service. Dunbar Funeral Hone, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, is assisting the family.
Fran passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Born in Alexandria, Virginia, he was the son of the late Russell Daniel Dudley and Mary Via Dudley. He graduated from George Washington High School, served in the U.S. Navy Reserves, and worked as a Manager for RCA for over 35 years until his retirement.
A devoted member of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, Fran took great pride in his involvement with the Knights of Columbus, singing in the church choir, and always being ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Fran lived a life full of joy, laughter, and love. He had a gift for bringing humor and light into any room, always ready with a new joke and a warm smile. His quick wit and infectious laughter left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a deep love for singing and strumming his guitar—never without his cowboy hat. His voice carried the same warmth and joy that defined his spirit.
An avid outdoorsman and a cowboy at heart, Fran found peace and purpose in nature. He loved to fish and hunt, especially when sharing those moments with his daughters and grandchildren. Whether casting a line or walking through the woods, these were more than hobbies—they were cherished traditions that brought his family closer together.
Fran found serenity in his garden, where he spent countless hours tending to his plants with care and patience. Whether coaxing tomatoes from the soil or sharing the bounty with his family and neighbors, gardening was a reflection of his nurturing soul.
Above all, Fran was a devoted father, papa/poppy, and friend. His legacy lives on in the laughter he inspired, the stories he told, and the love he gave so freely.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Kimberly Ann Dudley Jeffcoat (Jon) and Kelly Lynn Dudley Woods (Trey); grandchildren, Hailey Monts, Jon Wiley Jeffcoat, and Chase Woods (Erika); and two adored great-granddaughters. In addition to his parents, Fran was predeceased by his beloved wife, Harriet Coflin Dudley; his precious children, Jimmy, Susan, and John Dudley; and his brothers, Daniel and Richard Dudley.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Charles & Polly LaRosa, who have walked alongside them in every journey of their lives.
A special thanks goes to NHC of Lexington for their care, compassion, and friendship they gave Fran and his family over the last nine (9) months.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church.
