Gail Duke

Gail was born in Hartsville, S.C. to the late Clifford Odell and Chellie Koon on May 27, 1942. She attended Columbia High School and later worked in the South Carolina state government for many years including the State Forestry Commission and the State Law Enforcement Division.

Gail was active with various groups at her church, Riverland Hills Baptist Church, including the choir. Through this involvement, she developed many close friendships. Her family would like to thank them all for the love and support that they have shown her throughout her journey.

Gail is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Shirley Hoile, and Janice Bigbee, and her Son-In-Law, Walter Johnstone.

Gail is survived by her daughter, Dawn Johnstone of Raleigh, N.C. and her son, Robbie Duke of Houston, TX. Grandsons, Andrew Johnstone (David), Patrick Johnstone (Caitlyn), Brandon Duke and Colin Duke; her brothers, Clifford Koon, Jr and Brian Hoile, Sr, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 9th, 2024 at Riverland Hills Baptist Church. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.

Memorials may be given to the charity of one’s choice.
