James (Jimmy) Linn Shuler, 86, spread his wings and headed straight to heavens gates to join our heavenly father and all his loving family waiting there with open arms for him on September 10th, 2023. He passed peacefully at home with family.
He will be remembered by his family and anyone who knew him as a loving and devoted husband, father, G pops, and grandaddy. He was a simple, honest, hardworking man. Whose love of family can be seen in his children and their children. He would say his greatest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren. He retired from Sears and Roebuck Co. after 35 years. He loved spending quality time with family, and everyone was included to come along. He loved camping, Clemson football, a good Bar B Que (especially his own recipe which was his family secret) and working with his hands. His love and grounding foundation will be truly missed.
He was predeceased by his mother (Martha), father (Linn Shuler), stepfather (Robert), brother Johnny, and sister Emily as well as his sons John and Jimmy Shuler, daughters Kristy Shealy, Kayla Shuler, and Jennifer Shuler.
He leaves behind to cherish and carry on his memory, his wife Barbara, whom when asked was his ultimate love, the match to his gasoline, that when it was ignited would continue to burn for 65 years. Together they would weather many trials and losses but held steadfast in their love for each other and their love and faith in God. This could be seen in their devotion to not only each other but their 8 children as well as the over 150 foster children they loved and cared for over 35 years of foster parenting. His daughters Teresa Shuler, Debra Blakley (Michael), and Bridgette Shuler. Granddaughters Cheyenne Shuler (Jake), Ashleigh Reeves, Jennifer "Lynn" Nix, Shelby Raye Shealy, and Grandson James "Ryan" Shuler. Great grands, CJ Nix-Owens, Irie Reeves-Abee, Emma and Noah Kinard and a new soon to be great grand. His Sister Roberta Isbel and multiple nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of his life and visitation at the family home on September 16, 2023, from 2-5 pm.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.dunbarfuneralhomedutchfork.com for the Shuler family.
