

Born in Columbia, SC on October 5, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Walker Raleigh Turbeville and Elizabeth Lathan Turbeville.
Affectionately known as “Jeepy”, she attended Columbia city schools, the University of South Carolina, and spent four years with M.L. Kramer’s Playhouse Studios studying Speech and Drama. She was also a member of the Assembly and former member of the Junior League of Columbia, where she used her skills and talents entertaining scores of children throughout the Midlands and surrounding areas directing the Junior League Puppet Theater at the original Columbia Science Museum on Senate Streeet.
An active member of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church of Hartsville, SC, Jeepy served on the Vestry, was a former ECW President, Daughter of the King, Lay Reader, and Altar Guild. For 12 years, she led a monthly devotional group, S.A.L.T with her deep spiritual strength and wisdom which was developed through years of theological studies.
She was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin Almy Knowlton, Jr.; second husband, Warrington Lawrence Williams; son, B.A. “Rusty” Knowlton, III; and brother, W.R. “Red” Turbeville.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Elizabeth Lathan Knowlton (James T. Green, Jr.) of Ballentine; daughter-in-law, Holley Sparkman of Murrells Inlet; grandchildren, B.A. “Al” Knowlton, IV, Nicholas Spruce White, Maxwell Knowlton White, Joy Elaine Lathan White; and stepgrandchildren, Kimberly Nicole and Hannah Leigh Green.
Her stepchildren include W.L. Williams, Jr. (Carye), Ben K. Williams, Edward W. Williams (Barb), Doug Williams (Mary Lou), and Susan Hembree (Fred) and a host of beloved stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Burial will be held at Hopewell ARP Church in Blackstock, SC at 2:00 p.m. that same day.
