BALLENTINE - A funeral service for John Harvey “Jack” Richardson, Jr., 82, will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. Richardson passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017. Born in Columbia on January 18, 1935, he was the son of the late John Harvey Richardson, Sr. and Marguerite Gayle Richardson. Jack was a 1953 graduate of Columbia High School and a 1957 graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he took part in the Naval ROTC. He served in the United States Navy for two years of active duty, followed by 28 years in the Reserves. He later retired in 1998 after working for 30 years with S.C. National Bank. He was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church, where he served many years as Treasurer. Surviving are his son, Mike Richardson of Ballentine; granddaughter, Amber Richardson of Irmo; and numerous other extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Patty Richardson and his son, Kent Richardson. Michael, Amber, Francine, & David " My "buddy" Jack was a wonderful and True "Southern Gentleman"...He was fun to chat with, and I always got a "tickle" when he'd call and say he was calling from his "favorite store" (Dollar Tree),whether here or in Myrtle Beach..."Just chkg. to see if there's anything you need..." (He Loved the "bobble heads' !!!)
He will be missed by Many people, and a whole bunch from Ebenezer!!!
He Loved to spoil the "little ones"...often bringing them little gifts (like from the $$ Tree!) and They loved that he Thought of them !!
Jack, know that you were loved, and many people learned from Your "example of living"...God's Peace friend..,God's Peace..."kdk"
