Joy DeMelba Campbell

CHAPIN – A private graveside service for family only will be held for Joy DeMelba Potts Campbell. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, is assisting the family.

Mrs. Campbell died Monday, May 9, 2022. Born in Fort Towson, Oklahoma, she was a daughter of the late Earl Walker Potts and Gracie Aleene Songer Potts. She was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Education. Joy was a member of D.A.R, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Lexington County Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of Chapin United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Ann Marie Johnson and her son, Dan Allan Campbell (Crystal Smith), both of Chapin, SC; sister, Jequita Mae McDaniel of Littleton, CO; and five grandchildren, Rachel Ann Onley, Aubrey DeLee Harrison, Sarah Ann Riley, Walker Allan Campbell, and Lindsey Michele Campbell.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Wilber Joseph Campbell, daughter Gracie Pauline Onley, sister Wanda Earlene Byars, and brother, Curtis Ray Potts.
