Martha Stough Welsh Huggins

A graveside funeral service for Martha Stough Welsh Huggins will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Wells Cemetery, Elliott, SC. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, 7600 Woodrow Street, Irmo, SC 29063.

Mrs. Huggins died Sunday, March 9, 2025. Born in Sumter, SC at Tuomey Hospital, she was the daughter of the late George Bussaine Welsh, Sr. and Evelyn Vernell Cherry Welsh.

She worked in finance and managed the offices of real estate and insurance businesses throughout her career. For many years, she was the First Grade Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church in Camden. She was a kind and loving person, always helping others. She was deeply devoted to God, her family, and her church.

Martha is survived by her husband James Boyce Huggins, II and her daughter Dr. Martha Paige Huggins Meeker; son-in-law, Lee Earl Meeker; two granddaughters, Piper Ashlee Giuliani (John) and Amber Cherry Meeker; her sister, Evelyn Welsh Langston and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, George Bussaine Welsh, Jr.
