

Marvin Paul Murray, 73, of Lexington SC passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022, with his close family by his side. Born in Charleston, SC, Marvin graduated from the College of Charleston with a chemistry degree, earned his MBA from the University of South Carolina and studied PhD biochemistry. He proudly served in the US Army Air National Guard. Marvin worked as a chemist at the SC Department of Agriculture before moving on to a 34-year career with the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control, where he retired as chief operations officer.
A lifelong athlete and sports fan, Marvin loved being outdoors playing golf, cheering on the Gamecocks, watching the birds and watering his grass. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of Oak Hills Golf Club in Columbia, where he developed some of his closest friendships. Marvin was a wonderful father to his daughter Jenna, who will forever treasure his steadfast support, their talks and his laughter. Above all else, he was a devoted husband who loved spending time with his wife, partner and best friend Angela. His quiet intellect, generosity and quick wit will be missed beyond measure.
Marvin is predeceased by his father Oscar Claude Murray, Jr. and brothers David Murray and Douglas Murray.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 35 years, Angela Murray, daughter Jenna Murray and son-in-law Kevin Burford, mother Mildred Murray, brother Donald Murray, sister Carol Krakoff (William), nieces, nephews and other beloved family members and friends.
Marvin’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the ICU and critical care nurses, doctors and staff at Lexington Medical Center.
A memorial service for Marvin will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
