Born on April 30, 2007, Mason lived an incredibly full life in his short time on earth. To have known Mason was to know a very special, caring, intelligent, and wildly funny young man. He had an infectious personality that pulled people in and never let them go. Mason was a friend to everyone, and was fiercely loyal to those he loved. He possessed many talents, the most special of those being his self-taught gift of playing the piano in which his music would light up the room and everything in it. Surrounded by what he would refer to as a family of drab Gamecocks, Mason sure did love his Clemson Tigers, and entered every battle in solid orange! Mason also had a love for sports and the lake. He served as a recreational sports advisor and played with the Marlins baseball team for several years. Mason was employed with Lake Murray Marina.
Mason led a God-fearing life, and built an incredibly strong relationship with our Lord. He rededicated his life to the Lord in 2023 at Chapin Baptist Church. Mason regularly worshipped at Chapin Christian Community Church, where he was part of the Fusion Student Ministry, as well as multiple bible study groups.
A 2024 Honors Graduate of Chapin High School, Mason excelled in school. He participated in many school programs, including Chapin basketball (Manager), Wingman Club, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, the Academic Leadership Academy, and as a volunteer with the Special Olympics Team. Mason also acted as President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes sports ministry, where he more than tripled student participation at Chapin High School. His high school class voted him for the People’s Choice Award in 2022. Mason went on to earn a scholarship to Lander University, where he was an engineering major. He became a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and was awarded their Harmony Award.
Mason is survived by his mother, Jessica Henderson (Reginald Bowers); father, Alfredo Lewis; sisters, Madison Lewis and Mya Henderson; step-sister, Addie Bowers; grandparents, David and Lorri Evans; aunts and uncles, Paul (Lindsey) Evans, Kayla (Cody) Miller; first cousins, Alivia and Lillian Evans and Julia Miller; step-grandparents, Sandra and Ollie Bowers; close family friend, Adam (Jenna) Ryall; as well as many other great aunts, uncles, cousins, including his closest cousin, John Michael Santopadre; extended family; and friends who will miss him greatly. Mason was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Fred and Shirley Santopadre Sr. and Paul and Lillian Evans, and cousin, Kristen Drenten.
