

Nancy was originally from Pennsylvania and was the youngest of six children. She married Burley Wilson Johnson of Columbia who remained her loving husband for over 59 years. Together they raised three children and were blessed with three grandchildren. Nancy graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Nursing. She served in that capacity until retirement. She was selected by her Hospital to travel to Romania and provide training to the nursing staff.
Nancy was a devoted member of Virginia Wingard Memorial United Methodist Church where she served in the choir, food pantry, and many other church ministries. Those who knew Nancy found her to be a hard worker with a warm heart and genuine love for people. Spending time with her family brought her great joy. She enjoyed sharing in activities with her family including, snow skiing, boating, sailing, hiking, camping and riding on the back of Burley’s motorcycle. Nancy and Burley traveled extensively across the United States and abroad.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents Laura and Courtland Lamphere, her husband Burley, and sisters Ruth White and Jean Daniels. She is survived by her brothers David Lamphere (Janice), and Robert Lamphere (Kathryn) and sister Elizabeth Glanville (Charles), sons Mark Edward Johnson and Kenneth Wade Johnson (Cindy), daughter Diane Johnson Scully (Mark), granddaughter Ashtyn Scully, grandson Jarryd Scully and granddaughter Jessica Johnson.
Nancy lived a full and meaningful life in faithful service to her Lord and family. A celebration of life will be conducted at Virginia Wingard Memorial United Methodist Church on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 1:00pm, located at 1500 Broad River Rd, Columbia, SC 29210.
