

NEWBERRY - Phyllis J. Green, 82, of Newberry, S.C. died Thursday, December 9, 2021. Born on November 1, 1939 in Clothier, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Odell E. Elkins and Madeline Freeman Elkins.
Her younger years were spent in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Throughout her career in the telephone industry, she worked with C&P Telephone Company, Southern Bell, and AT&T. She and her husband, Londa, moved to South Carolina in 1977 but she always considered West Virginia home. She will be remembered for the way she loved her family, her many talents that included creating flower arrangements, window treatments, painting, sewing, monograming and her love of Christmas.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years and her soul-mate, Londa Green; two children, Barbara Lehew of Chapin, S.C. and Norman Green (Becky) of Poteau, OK.; a sister, Alice White (Grady) of St. Mary, GA; sister-in-law, Kim Elkins of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren, Joshua Lehew (Valori), Brittany Rowe (Dallas), C. Todd Green, Kristen Green, Kaitlen McKenize; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Livi; stepgrandchildren, Amanda Woodral (Dan), Jonathan Martin, Josh Martin (Jaimie); eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-granddaughter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret “Peggy” Elkins and brother, Danny Ray Elkins.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, located at 7600 Woodrow Street, Irmo. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021 in the chapel at the funeral home.
Burial will take place in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, West Virginia on 11:00 am Sunday, December 19, 2021.
