

Sally Sale Grooms, 75, wife of Joe Cary Grooms Jr. died peacefully on August 26, 2025, at 3:16am. (John 3:16) She was at her home surrounded by loved ones, holding the hand of her soulmate and daughter.
Born on March 9, 1950, in Washington D.C. at Columbia Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Jack Edsel Sale and Mary Doris Wilkinson Sale (Feathers). Sally graduated from Irmo High School in 1968. After graduation she attended the University of South Carolina majoring in Early Childhood Education.
Sally grew up in Irmo, South Carolina and stayed true to her roots. Sally was very proud of Irmo High School and was a star basketball player lettering from her sophomore to senior year. She was the schools Teen Page editor for Columbia’s afternoon daily newspaper, the Columbia Record. She also represented Irmo High School on the Teen Community Affairs board of Belk department store. Ultimately, she was chosen by faculty to draft the Irmo High School Honor Creed and was selected as a delegate to the American Legion Auxiliary Palmetto Girls State. She then opened her own ladies clothing store in the town of Irmo, Ethan’s Girls, in 1987. Sally worked at several successful companies over the years, mostly in commercial construction. In March 2002 Sally entered the world of real estate and in October 2008 Sally opened Acquire Real Estate Inc. with her sister Katie and brother-in-law John. Sally truly loved helping others from all walks of life. Her ability to motivate people behind a worthy cause was remarkable.
Everyone everywhere was drawn to Sally. She was vivacious and a natural leader. Sally was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. Her grandchildren were her world. She was married to her loving and dedicated husband, Joe for 36 years and they had just celebrated their anniversary on August 19th. Sally always had a smile on her face and her home was always open to anyone who needed it. Sally loved animals and when they spotted her coming, they knew they would get a treat.
Sally is preceded in death by her parents Jack and Mary Sale. She is survived by her husband, Joe Grooms, her daughter Christina Grooms Anderson (John), her adopted daughter Mary Beth Eudy Dunlap, her grandchildren Mason Eaddy, Tyler Eaddy and Blayne Anderson, a brother John Sale, three sisters Katie Dunn (John), Suzi Sale (Johnny) and Polly Sale, sister-in-law Linda Davis (Bob), brother-in-law Billy Grooms (Tracy) and many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 2 to 4 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, 7600 Woodrow Street, Irmo, SC.
