Born on January 20, 1936, Sarah attended Duke University for two years before dedicating her professional life to early childhood education, where she inspired and nurtured countless young minds with her compassion, creativity, and love for learning.
She lived a full and joyful life, enjoying bridge, book clubs, and golf, and was known for being a fierce and loyal Duke Blue Devils fan who cheered passionately for her team.
Sarah was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carnie P. Hipp, Jr., and her sister, Mary George Detweiler. She is survived by her loving children, Belinda Flohr (Philip), Sally Moyer, and Alison Brantley (Jason); grandchildren, Rachael Alley (Kevan), Bonnie Keisler (Kameron), and Jason Brantley, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Parker Alley, Claire Alley, Nathan Alley, Austin Alley, Sullivan Keisler, and Evelyn Keisler. She is also survived by her sister, Glenda Stanaland.
A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Park, officiated by Chaplain Maurice Webber.
