
Aged 91, born June 30, 1919, in Leslie, Michigan. Passed away under the care of Allegiance Hospice at the Miller Country Care Home on May 12, 2011. He had lived with his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Thomas Taylor, July 1999 through May 2006. He then moved to the Miller Country Care Home until the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Betty Jean Cole (Scheiffler), whom he devotedly cared for during her illnesses over the years. He was also preceded in death by his parents Bryan and Grace (Faught) Cole, and his brother, Donald Cole. He is survived by his three children, Dennis (Kathryn) Cole of Thornton, Colorado, Patricia (Thomas) Taylor of Jackson and William (Paula) Cole of Holland, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Thomas (Dawn) Taylor, Jennifer (Rob) Amidon, Jeffrey (Lisa) Taylor, Angela (Andy) Myer, Andrew (Kiley) Cole, Amy (Jeremy) Davies and Julia (Jeffrey) Payette; and 14 great-grandchildren; Hillary and Hayden Taylor, Grace and Sarah Amidon, Madison and Landon Taylor, Ava Myer, Nicholas and Morgan Cole and Braxton Long; Natalie and Nora Davies; and Catlyn and Joshua Payette; two sisters, Iris Markowski and Betty Randall and sister-in-law, Cathy Cole all of Jackson and several nieces and nephews. Bruce lived and worked all of his life in the Jackson area. He served six years in the US Navy during Wolrd War II. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company with 37 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His true passion was sports, especially baseball which he played throughout high school and during his employment at Goodyear. He was a member of the "Jackson Old Timers" baseball league. When he was no longer able to play baseball, he began golfing and bowling excelling in both sports. He loved all Michigan State University Sports and was a loyal fan. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends especially for his quick wit and positive loving attitude. The family would like to thank Brian and Cathy Miller of the Miller Country Care Home, especially to Cathy for her continued loving care and support for not just Bruce but the entire family; also, Pastor Chad of Brookside United Methodist Church bringing comfort and peace to Bruce and the family, and finally to Allegiance Summit Woods Family Medicine, Brad Bivens, MD and Amy Davies, NPC for their excellent care and concern. At his request, cremation has taken place and no public services or visitation will be held. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. The family suggests that contributions in his name be given to the charity of your choice. "See ya later alligator".
