Passed away March 9, 2019 age 85. Celeste was born on August 30, 1933 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Peter Badie Sr. and Myrtle Miller. Celeste was preceded in death by Ron’s father, Robert Johnson and recent husband Melvin Harris, brothers, Arthur Johnson, Aaron Badie. David Badie Sr. and her sisters, Althea Badie McDuffey, Adelaide Badie Rhodes, Veronica Badie Harris and Augustine Badie Chavous. Celeste was born in New Orleans and lived there until 1961 when she moved to Jackson, Michigan. Celeste is survived by her only son Ronald Anthony (Anna Marie) Johnson. Peter Badie Jr. is her only living sibling, also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Celeste also maintained closeness with her church family and cancer groups. Celeste began her career at WILX-TV, Channel 10 as the “Weather Girl” and retired from the station in Media Productions after 25 years of service in Jackson, Michigan. This was in addition to her lifelong love of and talent for singing. Her performances started in New Orleans, continued in multiple cruise talent shows, in churches and various locations throughout Michigan. Locally she performed for decades with Benny Poole and is the vocalist on the recoding, “Down Home Jackson Blues”. The culmination of her singing gift was most recently exhibited during her last hospital stay. Funeral services will be held at the Higby St. Church of Christ (706 S. Higby St. Jackson) on Friday March 22, 2019 at 12:00 P.M. with Family Hour beginning at 11:00 A.M. Burial Woodland Cemetery. Viewing Thursday 3-7 P.M. at Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home.
