

Darlene Suddeth, age 77, of Jackson, Michigan, peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on April 13, 2026. Born June 18, 1948, she was the beloved daughter of the late Walter T. Harrell and Daisy Harrell. Darlene married the love of her life, Gerald C. Suddeth, at age 18, sharing 45 years of marriage until his passing in 2012. She worked many years at Goodyear Tire Company and ITT Hancock before retiring and was also a licensed cosmetologist. A woman of strong faith, Darlene was a devoted member of Second Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a BTU teacher and Deaconess, and was lovingly known as “Mother Suddeth” while serving at Crossroad Christian Center. She also found joy worshipping at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC and Journey United Methodist Church in Columbia, SC while visiting her children during her winter months in the Carolinas. Darlene was known for her kind spirit, steadfast faith, and deep love for her family. She found her greatest joy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Alisa (Tony) Jackson and Kendra (Randy) Miller; her grandchildren, Shakia, Marcus, Adrienne, Tony II, and Christopher; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Walter (Sharon) Harrell and Jeanette Jean Baptiste; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald C. Suddeth, her parents, Walter T. Harrell and Daisy Harrell and her brother, Samuel White, Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 1, 2026, at Second Missionary Baptist Church, Jackson, MI. Family Hour: 11:00 AM; Service: 12:00 PM. Public visitation will be held Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 4:00–6:00 PM at Burden-Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home.
