Hey sis. I just want you to know how much I miss you every day. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you I loved you enough, how proud of you I always was.  I still cry when I think of you being gone. I seriously thought of contacting LinkedIn, then I realized that I wanted to see you pop up unexpectedly every so often, just as in life.  Made me smile - we're still LinkedIn!

We are outside of kathmandu in the mountains in nagarkot to give slater some fresh air and to get some silence.
It seems like we are on top of the world... Slater was filming and she said, Look there's a rainbow and then she said, Hello Dawn... and I swear it started getting brighter and moving towards us. This is a picture of it... a little later it was a double rainbow.
I know that no words or anything can help the severe pain you are in Kate, but we love you and are seeing signs. Also on the drive up I happened to glance over to a huge truck and on the side it said... The Angel.

My sincere condolence go to Dawn's family and friends. One thing I remember about  Dawn is her enthusiasm when talking about Nathan and Racheal. I still remember the tour she had given us of their nursery before they were born. The excitement for each of their arrival carried on through how they were brought up. Slater and I are in Nepal filming the next part of her documentary about kids living on the front lines of climate change. We are so sad to not have been at the service in Michigan but at the same time...the exact same time... we were in a very sacred temple in Kathmandu, Nepal where the monks and musicians and dancers that were there made an amazing ceremony for DAWN. The monks told Slater that they were giving Dawn their dancing, singing, music, love and light from the candles to carry her spirit forward. It was amazing. Kate... Slater will make the video of it when we return. We love you Dawn and miss you terribly. And Kate... may the angels and Dawn wrap their arms around you in these very difficult days. The day of the service, I was in and out for smokes and petting the dogs with Nate and going to cars and stuff and it seemed like the rain and sun were trading places and at one point I said to Mike or Nate or myself, I forget... "looks like D's gonna give us a rainbow."  I wasn't waiting around for it or anything and I never saw one during the service.  Later, however, I'm driving back home and  I'm set to cross the border.  I drive up to a customs booth and I say to myself, "Maybe I'll go right through.  Maybe my angels are with me."  And the customs agent waves me through in  record time - couldn't have been faster - and I'm driving away TOTALLY RELIEVED -
because sometimes they stop me - I think it's my surly attitude.  So it was really great to just not have to deal with that -Wednesday- and I'm driving into Canada and I say, "Thanks, D." and just then, a truck splashed up a spray of water to form a perfect little rainbow just for me. Thanks, D.

My deep sympathy for Dawn's partner Kate, her children, and family.  I have precious memories of our youthful friendship.  Although you are no longer with us phsyically, your presence remains known in the hearts and memories of the countless lives you've touched with your generous spirit.

 I'm at a loss for words.  I know it's been years since I last saw Dawn.  But what I remember is a person filled with life and so very vibrant.  She could and would always look for ways to make you laugh.  No matter what she may have been going through personally - she was always bubbly and full of smiles. I always smile when I hear classic hip hop on Sirius - especially Grand Master Flash...do you remember how she loved to rap and get her groove on.....she was and is an amazing person and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. It seems that when we hit 40 we have finally figured ourselves out and found a place in the world.  It makes me so sad to think of someone like that gone from this world.  She had so much to give in the way of her personality, friendship, love, and in her light vibrant energy so willing and easily shared with others.

I knew Dawn briefly when we worked together and I have fond memories. My thoughts and best wishes are with you all.

I will remember Dawn as a brilliant woman with a wicked sense of humor. She was passionate about life and truly compassionate about people. Above all, she was devoted to her children and family. I hope you can find comfort in knowing how special she was to all who knew her. My prayers go out for you.

Dawn and I were colleagues at CSC - and friends.  I enjoyed her great sense of humour as much as I valued her skills. She was a great team player and always managed to see the up-side when everybody else didn't.  
One day, when my husband Ian and I invited Dawn for a tour round Black Forest, Germany, she told me, she absolutely wanted to see some Germans in Lederhosen.  I convinced her that this was just a cliche ... only to end up in a restaurant with a bus load of Bavarians ... in Lederhosen!  She was in hysterics ... as were we!   ... and that's the Dawn I'll want to remember: laughing, enjoying life, and being great company!  
Our thoughts are with all her family and loved ones.
