Delores "Dee" May Converse

Of Marshall, formerly of Jackson, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the age of 92. She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Steven) Pickford and Patricia (Tom) Goeb; four grandchildren, Cameron (Shante) Pickford, Courtney Pickford, Haley Murray and Parker Murray; three great grandchildren, Alathea, Caitriona and Talia; sibling Ronald (Barbara) Small of South Carolina as well as many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Gerald “Jerry” E. Converse, infant children Mary, Jerry, and David, and siblings Richard (Leona) Small, Betty (George) Peterson, Rosemary (Donald) Christopher, and Ralph (Delores, surviving) Small. Delores was born to Anthony and Mary (Randis) Small in 1930 in Jackson, Michigan and attended Leslie Public Schools. Delores married Gerald in 1949. She enjoyed bowling, golf, and ice and roller skating in her youth. She worked early on as a Candy Striper at Mercy Hospital, helped in the school lunch room while her girls were in school, and later she enjoyed a successful career in real estate, from which she retired. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, travel, and playing cards and bingo with her great grandchildren. She was a dedicated wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mrs. Converse had a strong faith in the Lord and attended Family Bible Church, where she was still active in ministry, and was certified with Stephen Ministry just this past year. She enjoyed Christian music, especially gospel music, and studying her Bible. A celebration of her life will be held at Family Bible Church (725 US Highway 27 North Marshall, Michigan 49068) on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Cremation has been chosen and Mrs. Converse will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Jackson, Michigan beside her husband Gerald.
