

Beloved father and friend, age 94, passed away December 10, 2014. Edward was born March 3, 1920 in Hawesville, Kentucky to Truman and Mary Young. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alda Mae; brothers, Thomas and Melvin; sisters, Ozetta Tucker and Lillian Bailey; and stepdaughter, Patricia Beech. He is survived by his son, Dennis (Ellen) of Jackson and daughter, Kathie Maitland of Marshall; stepdaughters: Mary Lou Middlebrook of Arizona, Jan (Ren) Flagg of Jackson, Carolyn (Tom) Brunk of Coldwater, and Donna Stockamp of Indiana; step son-in-law, Gene Beech; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Stanley (Flo) and Danny (Wanda); sister, Ida Mae Parker; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend Julie May. Mr. Young served his country with honor and distinction as a member of the United States Army in the Pacific Theater of World War II. He retired from Kent Moore in 1981 with over 30 years of service. Edward was a member of Grace (Gorham) Church since 1979. Even at the age of 94, Mr. Young remained very active in life. He enjoyed working outside, building birdhouses, and helping his children with their outdoor projects. A funeral service will be held Monday, December 15, 2014, at the Charles J. Burden & Son Funeral Home in Jackson at 11:00 am with visitation on Sunday, December 14, 2014, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Burial Fifield Cemetery. Pastor John Lillie (Countryside Bible Church) will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice of Kalamazoo.
