Dear Whetstone family, I had the honor of being in your dads church, in Dallas Tx,while he was in Seminary. I was just a smart mouthed kid,who frequently tried his patience. He and your mother were so gracious to my siblings and me. We were at Pilgrim Chapel Bible Church in Dallas in the mid to late 1950's as best I remember. As a result of the love your parents showed me ,I stayed in Church, was saved at age nineteen, and surrendered to preach when I was in my late twenties. Have been a Church Pastor for over forty five years. God Bless you.

Dear Whetstone Family,

I am the oldest of Ken and Carol Olson's seven children from Oakwood Baptist Church. I do not remember "Stump the Pastor" like my brother Joe, but I do remember your Dad loved people and taught from the Bible. 

Your Dad performed our Wedding Ceremony on October 29, 1966. I, Janice, married David Wells. We remember your father's kindness, love and counseling he gave us. He met with us at the beach on beautiful Lake Michigan to have our counseling sessions. One thing he shared as he held up his wedding ring and said, "Just as there is no beginning or ending to a circle, there is no ending to marriage just like this ring." He wanted us to know we were making a lifetime commitment that would last forever. We will be married 50 years in 2016. We were talking about contacting your Dad for our 50th celebration and having him renew our vows but we are happy for him that he is now with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 

Dave and I continued to grow in the Lord throughout our marriage. We raised two children who married believers and are now raising our five grandchildren to know and love the Lord. In 1980 - 1991, we served as missionaries with New Tribes Mission, on the field of Papua New Guinea. We now continue to have a heart for marriages and are thankful for the Godly start we had having your Dad as our first pastor as a married couple. We strive to be a Godly example of all God wants us to do to have a marriage that honors Him with trust in Him through all the struggles life brings. 

We are sorry we will miss seeing you all at your Dad's home going service. Be assured of our prayers for you as you say good-bye for now, until we meet again.  We Praise the Lord for the blessing and legacy you have through your dad.

Dear Whetstone Family,
You may not remember me but I remember your Dad. Ken & Carol Olson from Oakwood Baptist (MI) are my parents. I am Joe the 4th of 7 children. I was the wiggly kid who probably pestered Kay and Jan. Your family left when I was around 11 or 12 years old. Well that wiggly kid grew up to become a pastor. I have been serving in a pastorate for 39 years now. I still remember some of your Dad's sermon points, but I mostly remember his love for people. When I was 7 or 8 your Dad on Sunday nites would allow kids to take turns to "stump the Pastor." We could bring anything to church and your Dad said he could make a spiritual application about it. I planned for weeks when it was my turn and I thought for sure I was going to stump him. I brought an army tank and he talked about the armor of God. I remember being so impressed by that. In the years that followed I too on Sunday nites used "stump the Pastor" and warmly thought of your Dad every time. God blessed him with 91 years and then promoted him. What a blessing of faith that he left behind for you. My condolences, but also am rejoicing with you in the hope of salvation through our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ.

 Our love and sympathy to the Whetstone family as you go through this sad time, but we all know that your dad is happy & healthy and all of us who knew him were blessed  by his Christian love and knowledge
