Lillian Ruth Woodard aged 93, died on Sunday morning, September 25, 2022 at Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson, MI. She was born in Marion, Ohio on April 6, 1929, the fifth of nine children of Otto and Grace Osterhout. She first met Jack Woodard in 1945. They were married a year later and celebrated 58 wonderful years together until Jack’s death in 2005. Surviving are children, Douglas (Noree) of Greenwood, Indiana and Constance (Jeffrey) Harper of East Lansing, Michigan; son-in-law, Ben Broughton of Muskegon, Michigan; grandchildren, Jessica (Kerry) Robbert of Grand Haven, Michigan, Andrew (Shiree) Woodard of Bloomington, Indiana, Abigail (Eddie) Quada of Boulder, Colorado, and Tyler (Ginger) Harper of Topeka, Kansas, plus; great grandchildren, Dr. Calvin Woodard, Walter Harper, and Lillian Harper. She also is survived by her brother, Nelson, and sister, Janet. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Broughton, four brothers (Harvey, Marion, Howard, and David), two sisters (Margaret and Lucille) and her friend, Dr. Thomas Slater. Lillian was a long-time resident of Jackson. She loved the Lord, was a devout Christian and an active member of the First Presbyterian Church for 68 years. She worked as the print shop and youth education office manager for that church for several years. Later, she managed the print shop at Jackson Community College (now Jackson College) before starting a commercial printing company, Wood Press, with her husband and son in 1982. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings at her home for holidays and other special events such as wedding receptions and graduation parties. Lillian was a very supportive grandmother who attended most of her grandchildren’s sporting and social events. She was always gracious in offering assistance to family members whenever she could. Her independent nature, sharp wit, and good listening skills will be missed by all who knew her. Family members invite friends to celebrate and share memories of Lillian’s life at a funeral service Saturday, October 1, at 1:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church located at 743 West Michigan Avenue, Jackson. Visitation begins an hour prior to that service. Memorial tributes may be made in Lillian’s name to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 743 West Michigan Avenue, Jackson, Michigan 49201.
