Luwella Jean Sutherland

Luwella Jean Sutherland was born January 9th, 1938. She didn’t like to be called Luwella, so her friends called her Lou and her family called her Jean, Mom, or Grandma. She was full of sass and fire and lived life on her terms. Jean was a wanderer but always made her way back to family. She seemed to connect with people, made friends wherever she went, and was popular in her neighborhood or community. In her later years, she could be found sipping wine on the porch and watching the horses at Reality’s Chance Sanctuary. Jean passed away on May 2nd, 2022 at the age of 84. She was blessed with a wonderful family including her children; Bruce (Terry) Bahr, Sandy (Dave Komm) Bahr, Scott (Denise Hall) Bahr, Sally (Jeff Johnson) Bahrtiba, and Laura (Kevin Hehl) Hauenstein, her grandchildren; Alissa Aparicio, Chris Bahr, Justin Bahr and Devin Hauenstein, her great grandson Isiah Aparicio, great-great grandson, Tobias Wilson, and her siblings; Hank, Mary, Jim, and Smitty. Jean would have wanted everyone to give each other a big hug and have a glass of wine with a good toast in her honor. Her family encourages all who knew her to do exactly that!

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Jean’s life on Sunday, May 22nd, 2022 at 11:30am at Reality’s Chance Sanctuary - 4519 E Berry Rd, Pleasant Lake, MI 49272. In lieu of flowers, donations will support the Alzheimer's Disease Research Fund at the University of Michigan.
