Doug I'm so sorry for your loss. I was out of town when I heard and wish I could have been there to celebrate his Matt's life with you. You and your family are in my prayers and thoughts.

Kathy I am at a loss for words time has taken us in different directions but my love and comfort is with you. He was my buddy I'll always remember him sticking up for me when I needed it and a hug when I did'nt.

You're the first one to hit this close, Matt…

Once upon a time we were budding young artists, ambitious and crazy, stupid for music, playing our first shows as nubile musicians in a sleepy little Michigan town. I can remember playing with you and Don in the only band I ever fronted, The Returns.  

I do miss that era, just after we cut from the shores of childhood, 18 and dangerously free, playing snotty garage in tiny bars in and outside the 'prison city' with SH10, Cash O'reilly, and G&TA to name a few. We were loud and electric, trying our best to have fun.

How strange and melancholy it is in this moment to think of how much time has past since we were young together in Jackson, developing our personalities and talents. Maybe I shouldn't put such weight on a memory so dated, so based on the emotion I feel now (this was 10 years ago!) Still…when I think back to a few times we had together on our first stages… I can't help to think that we were great. We were the only psychedelic band around... I know I dove into your drums at least once. Those rock n roll moments with you and Don are dusty gems in the cellars of my mind. I love and miss you guys…

After our band broke up, we inexplicably lost all touch with each other, and went about different lives, as people will, but our time playing together will never be lost on me. I miss you and your drumming, buddy ... Your rhythm was the backbeat to my youth. You helped to quicken my early artistry. I'd give anything to go back and feel that way with you again. All we did is laugh hysterically and jam…locked in step on our journey to rock stardom.

Thanks for believing in me, Matt. I can't thank you enough for the memories. I'll see you on the other side.

Firstly, to Matts family and close friends. I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I first met Matt at a Know Lyfe concert years and years ago. Back when I was just the dorky little girl hanging out watching from the back of the room. Over the years he watched out for me at shows and made sure people didn't mess with me. He was always there if you needed a laugh. Not only was he a talented drummer, but he was a genuinely nice guy that will be deeply missed by all. Love ya man.

Like so many others at a time like this I have no idea what to say,,,,, Matt has always been a favorite of mine ,,,,he was always genuinely glad to see me ,,,,, and I in turn was always genuinely glad to see him
     So many of our wonderful children taken from us way to soon ,,,,, a life barely lived ,,,, Matt's true potential never even started ,,, and so sadly another one of my favorite hockey players gone before his time ,,,
     Because of life's obligations I saw less and less of Matt but I know I shall always miss him. 
     To Kathy and Doug believe me you do not grieve alone ,,,, there is a very large circle of Matt's friends that grieve with you

To Matts family, I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I knew Matt threw Know Lyfe for some 7-8 years. He was more than just a drummer in my favorite band, he was a close friend, a brother. He has always been a part of my Michigan family.  I love and miss this kid. Rest in peace brother.

Meeting Matt through his music and sharing laughs was more than enough for me to call him a friend,the way he treated my son,now that was when you saw the real Matt shine. Thank you for sharing Matt with us, and him forever impacting our lives. It was truly my honor to call you a friend.
