

Of Jackson, passed away September 10, 2011 at age 83. Born December 5, 1927 to Andrew and Fern Lockridge, she married Donald Larson April 2, 1949. Attending the University of Michigan, she was the first married woman with a child to graduate from the School of Nursing. She earned a Masters Degree in Education and became a medical/surgical nursing instructor at Foote Hospital School of Nursing and Lansing Community College. She became the Director of Nursing at Foote Hospital. Her work continued with Doctors without Borders. Her license was still current at the time of her death. A member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, she fulfilled parish nurse duties, organist, elder, and volunteering with Love, Inc. Survived by her husband, Donald Larson; children, Karen Larson, Eric (Cheri) Larson, Kristen (Thomas) Larson Garceau, Elin (Anthony) Larson Groves; grandchildren, Andrew (Dawn), Kevin, Aaron Garceau, Sarah, Marie, Jake Larson; Garrett, Ryan, Collin Groves; great grandchild, Viola Garceau; sister, Nadine Crane and nieces/nephews. Preceded in death by parents and her sister, Barbara Jo MacClellan. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2301 Ridgeway Rd., Jackson, Saturday, September 17, 1 P.M. with a visitation from noon until the time of service. The Reverend Karen Kelley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
