Richard Alan Gonding

Of Jackson, MI passed away on July 15, 2023 at the age of 84. Richard was born in Chicago, IL on October 1, 1938, to parents John Albert Gonding, Jr. and Frances Marie Zybach. Richard was married to his loving wife Linda Kay Gonding for 49 years. He served in the Marines from 1956 - 1958 and was a member of JaxNaz Church for many years. He enjoyed golfing and bowling (bowling a 300 game), and also enjoyed years of traveling with his wife, friends and family. He loved supporting his children and grandchildren, in all of their sporting events and academic achievement. He also enjoyed creating relationships with their friends who became his “kids”. Richard is survived by his wife Linda Kay Gonding, daughters Beth Gonding and Debbie Bevier; grandchildren Brooklynne Bevier, Braylee Bevier, and Bryce Gonding- Gary; sister-in-law Lynne Pienta; brother-in-law Dennis Pienta; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents John Gonding, Jr. and Frances Marie Zybach, siblings James Gonding and Elizabeth Gonding, sister-in-law Karen Ladd, brother-in-law Robert Ladd, and brother-in-law Brian Howard. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM at JaxNaz Church, 3905 Clinton Rd., Jackson, MI 49201 with Pastor Marjorie Hein officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 10:00 AM until time of service with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to JaxNax Church or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
