

Of Grass Lake, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the age of 84. He was born to Oscar and Verna (Tisch) Schittenhelm on October 17, 1937. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Audrey (Ousley) Schittenhelm; sons, Robert (Sherri) Schittenhelm and Matthew (Michelle) Schittenhelm; grandchildren, Reis, Holly and Nick Schittenhelm; sister, Kay Ann Heselschwerdt; brother, Jimmy (Martha) Schittenhelm; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenny, Richard and Ronald Schittenhelm. Bob graduated from Grass Lake High School (1956) and served his country in the Army Reserves. He worked at Rockwell International for 23 years and then Chelsea Industries for 24 years before retiring. He was a private pilot and loved to fly his Piper Cherokee 140 as well as watch the skydivers at the Napoleon Airport. Bob enjoyed driving antique tractors with his brothers. He was an avid baseball fan and cheered for the Detroit Tigers. He was a loyal and devoted husband and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Bob had a quiet strength and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 E. Michigan Avenue, Jackson, MI) on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 12:00 PM with Pastor Larry Rubingh officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday evening, January 9, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 11:00 AM until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at Oakwood (East) Cemetery in Grass Lake.
