

He proudly served in the United States Army after being drafted to serve in the Vietnam War in 1966. During his service, he was stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky, and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He received the honor of Accelerated Advancement to Private E2 of Company C, 12th Battalion 3rd Training Brigade as well as being decorated as Marksman (Rifle).
He worked at the PF Miller Company receiving recognition for setting production records before retiring in 2010. He also retired from Salvation Army in 2016. He was known for his wise sayings, unmatched ability to keep it real with a calm demeanor, humor, genuine love of music from all genres and people of all ethnicities and roller-skating. He enjoyed fishing, music, feeding the birds, sitting on his porch to people watch and converse, watching sports and political discussions.
Preceded in death by his beloved parents Harvy Joseph Pearl and Effie Inea Sisson Pearl, his siblings Lawrence Felix, Gertrude, Wanda Cordelia Rogers, Sylvester (Gene) Pearl, Joseph Pearl Thompson, Charles Pearl, Jacqueline Pearl-Hoxie and Elvis Anderson.
He is survived by his siblings Christine Anderson, Pamela Gant, Evers (Tina) Anderson, Deborah (Quincy) Norwood and Dennis (Vernice) Anderson. He is survived by his children Roger “Larry” Jones, Joseph “Priest” (Tesha) Edwards, Gerald “Boog” Mathis, Anhre Johnson, Charlie Arnold, Patrick (Ruth Ann) Edwards, Debra Green, Lavada Allen, Marshawn Mathis, Kimberly McPike, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He was loved and respected by many!
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 20, 2026 at 12:00 pm at the Higby Street Church of Christ with Family Hour at the church from 11:00 am until time of service.
