

Of Jackson, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the age of 62. She is survived by her eight children, Angie Gonzales, Sylvia (Richard) De La Rosa, Rolando J. (Nikki) De La Rosa, Virginia L. De La Rosa, Irma L. De La Rosa, Jaime C. De La Rosa, Jose A. (Sarah) Lincoln III and John Paul (Lisa) Lincoln; nineteen grandchildren, Ashley, Josh, Selena, Alex, Tommy, Diego, Adrianna, Rudy Ray, Kendra, Martin, Lorenzo, Louis, Oscar, Rudy, Siera, Xander, Kylee, Marissa and John Paul; three great grandchildren, Bentley, Brayden and Rudy Ray II; two brothers, Armando (Sonja) De La Rosa and Joe (Janie) Elizondo. She was preceded in death by her son, John Paul De La Rosa; mother, Damiana; brother, Lorenzo De La Rosa; two sisters, Maria Pizano and Norma Rocha. Soila was born in Harlingen, Texas on April 30, 1953. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Soila raised all of her children as well as a special nephew, David De La Rosa, she raised as one of her own. She worked for several years in the kitchen at Ponderosa. Soila’s hobbies included crafting with her grandchildren, cooking and shopping. Many times her adventures took her to Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Goodwill and Encore. Shopping trips were mostly for something particular or just to shop. She enjoyed Taco Tuesday with her family and when tacos got old, dinner was replaced by other Mexican classics. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her such joy and happiness. She enjoyed teaching them how to make rice, tortilla and tamales. Music was am intricate part of her Spirit. In honoring her wishes, cremation has been chosen and the family will receive friends at Chas J. Burden & Son funeral home for a memorial visitation on Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a Rosary service with Father Tim Nelson at 6:00 p.m.
