Of Jackson, passed on to Heaven Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the age of 99 under the loving care of the staff at Countryside Care Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Frederick “Red” Babbs; son, Fred Babbs; brothers, James Howse and Curtis Howse; sister, Marion Zurek; and nephews, Michael Zurek and Curtis Howse. Vivian is survived by her daughter, Regina (Jim) Maes; daughter-in-law, Mary Babbs; grandchildren, James F. Maes, Theresa Maes, Brian Babbs and Melody Babbs; great grandchildren, Megan Alger, Jamie Maes, Adam Ulfig and Waylon Babbs; great-great grandchildren, Harley, Wyatt, Keira, Payton, Levi, Serenity, Charlie, Able, Paisley, Ariah and Douglas; sister, Betty Keith of Florida as well as many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. Vivian was born in Grayling, Michigan on November 18, 1922 to James and Flossie Howse. She enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed making up stories to tell the small children and often talked about being a “Rosie the Riveter” during the war. She was a retiree of Mechanical Products and volunteered at the Salvation Army in the food pantry and at Christmastime for many years. Vivian was very proud of the fact that she walked the Mackinac Bridge ten times, the first time being 80 years old. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest with her husband at Fort Custer National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
