Walter A. Reed

Of Jackson, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014 at the age of 94. He is survived by his wife, Lenore M. Reed; children, Wendell Reed, Paul Reed, Dawn Reed, MaryEtta (Dale) Hopkins, Gerald Bender and Stacy Bender; son in-law, Scott Richardson; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; sister, Yvonne Vanenburg. Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Reed; daughter, Linda Richardson and three brothers, Robert, Jake and Dale. He was born to Walter A. and Gladys (Bader) Reed on January 15, 1920 in Hanover. After graduating from Horton School he attended Jackson Business College; was then drafted into the U.S. Army and is a WWII Veteran. He spent his working career as a Bookkeeper/ Accountant, was instrumental in setting up Northwest School district and served on the School board. He coached Little League Baseball and was an avid baseball fan. He touched the lives of many and will be missed. A service honoring his life will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 10:00A.M. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday from 3 to 5P.M. He will be laid to rest at Roseland Memorial gardens with Military Honors.
