He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on May 13, 1944. He graduated from Zanesville High School in 1962 and then attended the Ohio University receiving a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1966. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Louise Gray, on September 5, 1964.
The couple lived in Columbus, Ohio before moving to Miami in 1972 after having 3 children. Chuck worked for over 30 years with Ross Laboratories, a Division of Abbott Labs, as both a territorial and district manager. He retired at age 58 1/2 in 2002.
He had a fierce passion for life. He loved just about everything about boating and fishing. His retirement was filled with long days on the boat in the sunshine chasing the big one! After moving to Jacksonville in 1984, Chuck and his family routinely spent their family vacations in the Florida Keys lobstering, a tradition that now lives on with his children and grandchildren. The Jacksonville Offshore Fishing Club was a central part of the couple’s life together and they were granted life time membership. Chuck served on the Board of Directors from 2014 – 2022 and he considered the people in the club some of his closest friends.
While he thoroughly enjoyed fishing the waters around Florida, Chuck also sought out adventures around the world, including fishing in Costa Rica, Mexico, Australia, New England, and the Caribbean. The couple were advent travelers visiting places such as Italy, Great Britain, Ireland, Argentina, Spain, French Polynesian Islands, Turkey, Greece, and Canada, just to name a few.
After losing a foot race to his teenage son, Chuck found the love in running. His running regiment including running up to 6 miles during the week and 10 miles over the weekend. He followed up his morning run with a Diet Pepsi and a bowl of ice cream! He consistently ran marathons thorough out his life and even competed in triathlons.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary, his children, Rob and his wife, Connie and their three children, Madyson, Bailey and Byron, and Erin and her Husband, Mark, and their two children, Emily and Andrew. And the countless friends far and wide that knew and loved him.
