Duane Eugene Stogsdill Sr. (Gene) was many things: a devoted husband of 65 years, father, and grandfather; a steady presence; a trusted protector; and a proud United States Navy Veteran. He loved the Lord and had deep faith. But above all, Gene was deeply loved. On January 24, 2026, surrounded by love, Gene passed away at the age of 86, leaving behind a family forever changed by his absence and forever grateful for his life.
Born on November 1, 1939, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Gene lived with quiet strength, purpose, and an unshakable sense of responsibility. Choosing a life of service, Gene retired as a Senior Chief in the United States Navy, a role he carried with great pride and humility. The Navy was not just a career; it was a calling. Through long days, long nights, and time spent away from home, Gene served with honor, courage, and an unwavering commitment.
To his family, Gene was a source of comfort and stability, the one who showed up, who listened, who protected, and who loved without conditions. He had a way of making people feel safe, understood, and valued. Whether through shared laughter, thoughtful advice, or quiet moments together, Gene made an impact that will never fade.
Gene found joy in the little things in life. These everyday moments, once taken for granted, are now cherished memories held close by those who loved him most.
Gene is survived by his wife, Tina, his children, Kimberly Achey (John), Duane Stogsdill, Jr, Rodney Stogsdill (Susan), and grandchildren, Spencer Achey (Elise), Jessica Achey, Duane Stogsdill III, Miranda Stogsdill, and Madison Stogsdill, each of whom carries a piece of their heart forward.
