

Freda Marie Eames Czerkawski, 88, passed away November 28, 2011. She was born February 5, 1923 in London, Ontario. She lived in Old Tappan New Jersey for over thirty years where she raised her family and touched the lives of so many through her guidance, laughter, wit and compassion. She retired after 10 years of service as the Intake Manager at the Institute for Child Development in Hackensack, New Jersey.
Prior to this position, Freda worked for over 10 years as a Secretary in the Guidance Office at Northern Valley Regional High School where she loved administratively supporting the Counselors and personally supporting the diverse needs of the high school students. She also provided years of teacher assistance during lunch breaks and special events at the Charles De Wolf Elementary School in Old Tappan, NJ. Earlier in her career she was an Executive Assistant at U.S. Steel Corporation in New York City. In July of 2009, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida, from Merritt Island, where she had lived for the previous twelve years.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph J. Czerkawski, Jr, MD and wife Evie Brown Czerkawski, MD of Atlantic Beach, FL and Charles V. Czerkawski and wife Anne, of Cohasset, MA; sister Muriel Thornton of Pittsburgh, PA and grandchildren, Charlie, Danny, Andrew, John Michael, Sarah, Emily and Tommy. She is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Joseph Czerkawski, Sr, her brothers, Jerry Eames and Jack Eames, and her sister, Doris Eames Taylor.
