

CDR John Howell Brame, USN RET, passed away April 25, 2015 in Jacksonville, Florida. His wife, Veda Jean Brame was by his side. He is preceded in death by his mother Marguerite Adams Brame, his father Arden Howell Brame, Sr., and his brother Arden Howell Brame, Jr. John was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He was 85 years old.
John was an avid sports fan having played football at Beverly Hills High school and then for the USC Trojans, volleyball with the 1953 Hollywood YMCA team that participated in the Pan American games, and toured Asia introducing volleyball all over the world. He loved tennis. He graduated from USC with a BS and Masters Degree in Physical Education(1953). He taught high school, coached football & tennis, was in real estate and was a weekend warrior in the Navy Reserves called into active duty in 1968. He later worked in the Navy Recruiting Command in Arlington, VA where he moved up to the rank of Commander. He served on a school board in Wisconsin and later moved to Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Veda Jean Brame, his daughter Christine, his son Roderic (Rachel), their mother F. Beryl Kohl, grandchildren Michael (Rose), Rita, Gabriel (Katie), Hannah, Nathan, Beryl and Janet; and great grandchildren Jasmine, Jagger, Adalyn and Isaac.
Stepsons and daughters he loved, appreciated and prayed for were Jason (Nicole), David (Andrea) and Benjamen with their combined 14 children and one great grandchild.
