John was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 11, 1944 to Cecile (Rosenbrock) and Parker Sumner Smith.
He is predeceased by his parents and wife Helen "Marci" Miller-Smith. John worked as an engineer for the United States Air Force and Harris Corporation. He had a passion for bowling, golfing and Jacksonville Jaguars Football and of course Ohio State Football.
Survived by his daughter, Andrea Clawson and son-in-law Wayne; son, Jeff Smith. Fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services with full Air Force Honors will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 10:30AM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Fl 32218.
