

Johnny Wayne Faulkenbury, 82, a longtime resident of Neptune Beach, passed peacefully in his home on Sunday, March 30, where his Savior, Jesus, greeted him with "Well, done, my good and faithful servant!"
"The measure of a man is one who lends a hand"could no more aptly be applied than to Wayne, whose legacy is one of helping others. Countless people can relate instances of great need when Wayne would "come to the rescue"! Wayne loved the Lord greatly and used the many gifts King Jesus bestowed upon him very well.
Despite never taking construction or drafting classes, he designed and built several beautiful homes with his own two hands! He loved "Mustangs" and rebuilt from empty shells several award-winning cars as a hobby! This man never stopped! He does indeed leave the world a better place!!!
Wayne was born in Pageland, South Carolina on August 12, 1942, the son of a sharecropper. His father plowed fields with a mule, and, Yes, Wayne picked cotton.
First Sergeant, ARNG Johnny Wayne Faulkenbury, served his country for 34 years in the Army National Guard. Where he was a Communications and Intelligence Specialist on Apache and other attack helicopters. Wayne was an active member of Beaches Chapel for decades.
He was married to Claudette Dupont Faulkenbury in 2019, after a very short courtship. He was predeceased by his precious "Chrissy" after 48 years of marriage, sister, Diane Killough, stepson, Jimmy Ikner, and step granddaughter, Paige Tatum.
He is survived by his stepdaughters Helen Tatum, Sarah Thompson(Keith), and Jennifer Croteau, stepdaughter in law, Linda Ikner, brother-in-law, Pierre Dupont(Linda), sisters-in-law Diane Martineau(Philip) Lise Dupont. Step granddaughter Christy Joy(Chris). Step granddaughters, Crystal Fallin(Darryl), Tina Ikner, McKenzie and Sophie Thompson, step grandson,Tripp Thompson. Step great grandsons, Connor Joy , Joshua Fallin,step great granddaughter Tatum Young (Marchant), step great granddaughter, Rylie Estes(Corbin). Niece, Kim Killough, nephews, Anthony and Marlin Killough and many step nephews and step nieces. Cousins Kelly Hart(Bill), Jerry Deese(Sue), Robin Faulkenbury and many other cousins. He also leaves behind best friends Chuck and Suzanne Barriner.
Military graveside interment with Honor Guard will be held on Friday, April 11 at 3 PM at H. Warren Smith Cemetery, 1538 2nd Ave., Jacksonville Beach. Funeral will be held April 12 at 11 AM at Beaches Chapel 2049 Florida Blvd., Neptune Beach.
