Julia grew up as the child of a career Army Officer. She spent her early years going from the United States to China and Japan. She attended several different American Schools in Japan in the 1930s and 1940s. Julia met Bill Everett at Yokohama American High School.
After High School, she attended several different colleges, graduating from the University of Florida in 1955. She continued her education; receiving a Master’s Degree in Education from Jacksonville University and a PHD from Duke University in 1982. Julia began her career as a teacher and later became a School Psychologist in North Carolina.
Later in life, Julia began to attend biennial Yokohama American High School reunions to reconnect with old friends. At these reunions, she was reacquainted with Bill Everett who became her life partner for twenty-seven years.
Julia had a love for the arts, visiting museums and reading all the placards in great detail. She also enjoyed the performing arts. In her time in Cary, NC, she was a member of Savoyards Theatre, assisting in the many productions. She was intellectually inquisitive, wanting to know about human development and the origins of man.
As a loving mother to her sons, Julia always wanted the best for them. She was known for her abundant love of animals which was instilled in her sons. The menagerie included cats, ducks, rabbits, a dog, a racoon, and a few caimans. Julia was also known to triage hurt birds.
Julia was a truly beautiful person inside and out and she will be missed every day.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking donations to Humane Society or Community Hospice.
