

Larry was born in Waycross, GA in 1939 and spent his impressionable years in Evansville, Indiana where he became a Hoosier fan and attended IU for both undergraduate and graduate school. Larry is a veteran having served several years in Army intelligence prior to the Korean War attaining a rank of 1st Lieutenant. Larry had a long career in Advertising – first working in Manhattan for two top-tier agencies – Benton & Bowles and BBDO. While in New York he had the opportunity to work on many national brands we all know such as Crest, Scope, Pampers, Cool Whip, Sara Lee, Glade and Life Savers to name a few. After about a decade in New York he eventually moved to Jasonville, Florida with his family and opened his own advertising agency in 1980 (Nussmeyer Advertising) specializing in advertising for regional community banks throughout the Southeast and Midwest.
Larry had a passion for music and performing which began when he hosted a radio show in college. He loved barbershop quarter signing and competed and performing for decades with a quartet called the Pastimes. He was a member of the Jacksonville Big Orange Chorus and Jacksonville Metropolitan chorus, both barbershop choruses from the Jacksonville area. He was very involved with his church at First Christian Church of the Beaches where he served as a deacon and assistant choir director along with signing with the church choir. He was a founding member of the Gospelaires, a gospel group formed with members from his church.
Larry is preceded in death by his mother Geneva Nussmeyer and brother Mike Nussmeyer. He is survived by his son, Chuck Nussmeyer, his daughter, Heidi Smith (and her husband Philip), grandchildren Lexi, Drew, Camille and Greer, of Heath, TX and brother Mark Nussmeyer ( and his wife Ann) and family of Brentwood, Tennessee.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, September 8th, from 5-7pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 9th, at 10 am, at the First Christian Church of the Beaches, 2125 Ocean Front, Neptune Beach, FL. Private family graveside will be held in Waycross, GA.
