

He attended Patrick Henry High School in Glade Spring, Virginia and went on to travel the world serving in the US Air Force as a C-130 Loadmaster. After his departure from the Air Force his lifelong passion for hot cars led to a long and colorful career in foreign auto parts as co-founder of Eastern Imports, Inc. in Jacksonville, Florida. He went on to indulge his love of the links in golf course management at Mill Cove Golf Course and Radisson Ponce de Leon Resort in St. Augustine, FL until his retirement in view of the ocean in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest and brother, Lawrence Edward. He is survived by his mother, Sadie and brothers Larry Bill, Donald Fletcher, David Randolph and Douglas Wayne, his wife, Jill Johnson-Kestner, his three sons, Lyle Jr. (and his children, Ashley, Nathan and Bradley), Jamey Layne and Drew Fletcher, his two daughters, Brooke Leigh and Shonna Gail (and her children, Tyler and Shalee Ashby).
He was well-loved and will be sorely missed. At his request, his ashes will be returned to Virginia near the place of his birth, in the Blue Ridge Mountains where he left his heart and loved his entire life. In lieu of flowers, a bereavement account has been opened in the name of the Kestner family at SunTrust acct.# 1000146659478.
