

Mr. Orman C “Al” Allen, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 20l4, at McGraw Community Hospice, Jacksonville, Florida. He was 87 years old. Al was a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville and a former member of Kernan Blvd Baptist Church, active in the Sunday school programs of both churches. Al was also a member of Brooks Family YMCA where he loved to exercise in the pool, as well as a volunteer for Hospice at the McGraw center where he had made many friends.
Mr. Allen was stationed in Hawaii with the Navy during World War II where he was trained to be an underwater demolition team member, as well as a landing craft driver. After the war he attended Carson Newman College in Tennessee where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Before his retirement, Mr. Allen owned an Insurance Agency in Woodstock, GA. He loved playing golf and fishing.
Mr. Allen is survived by his daughters Carol Buczkowski (Terry) and Nancy Gay (Ron), his stepsons Adam (Kathryn) and William Acree, his grandchildren Melissa (Justin), Michael (Jennifer), David, Rebecca, Ashton and Erin and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife May A Allen, his sister Sarah A Patterson, his brother Maynard “Ted” Allen and his parents Lt. Col and Mrs. H H Allen.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Beaches Chapel Hardage-Giddens(904)249-2374 located 1701 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32250. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 14, at 10am at the Beaches Chapel.
