April 16, 2013 at McGraw Hospice Jacksonville, Florida. Born in Vinita Oklahoma on August 14, 1919, he lived to be 93.
Bob was an Army Veteran of World War II. He served in the South Pacific during much of his four years of military service. Shortly after returning home to California he met his future wife, the love of his life, Flora. They married on July 27th, 1946 in Bell Flower, California.
In 1950, Bob, Flora and their young son John followed his two big sisters, Mary Crow Hagist and Lucille Crow Heilmann to Jacksonville Beach. He began his career as owner operator of one of the first laundry mats at the Beach. In 1953 their daughter Cynthia joined the family and they moved to Neptune Beach, where Bob remained in the home that he loved. He spent many years there tending his vegetable garden, sharing his woodworking skills and the art of frying fish with his grandsons, all the while singing them his favorite songs.
Bob joined the Elks Lodge shortly after moving to Jacksonville Beach. This evolved into a group of great friends that had fun, but also provided service the community that was so important. He spent many years as Chairman for the Harry-Anna Crippled Children's
Hospital. He dedicated countless hours trying to provide health care to children in need, wanting to make a difference.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, his beloved son John Edmund Crow, his sisters Mary Crow Hagist, Lucille Crow Heilmann and Ora Bell Crow Althouse.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years Flora Taylor Crow, his daughter Cynthia Crow Silvis and her husband Michael, grandson Andrew Mark Corwin and his wife Jodi, grandson Michael James Corwin, niece Mary Eikel and her husband Bob, nephew Paul Althouse and his wife Roxanne. Bob also has his wife's wonderful family residing in San Jose, Costa Rica, Connie and Johnny Brenes, Lucy Taylor, Lisette Taylor, Sonia Oller, his nieces Sylvia and Anna Brenes, nephews Johnny Brenes, Peter Oller, and Richie Taylor.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Tom Broner and Susan Brubaker, RN of Patient Advocate Services for not only their professional attention, but their caring support through this difficult time.
