He was a 1972 graduate of St John's Jesuit High School in Toledo Ohio, where he also enjoyed playing on the baseball, track and cross country teams. Bobby will be sorely missed by many friends who he also considered family, as his travels and his career in carpentry led him to live in states all across the country over his lifetime, including Ohio – where was born and lived until his early 20s, then moving to Colorado, Utah and Idaho before calling Florida his home for over 20 years.
Bobby was a master finish carpenter with a penchant for perfection in his creative detail for woodwork in the Atlantic and Jax Beach areas. Some of his best works were showcased in upscale feature homes in such publications as Oceanfront Living Magazine. Bobby was set to retire in Greeneville, TN on his daughter's alpaca farm, later this spring when his current projects in the Jacksonville area were complete. Ali was his pride & joy and the light of his life. He will be long remembered for his kind, light-hearted nature and quick-witted humor to take the edge off of life's difficult twists and turns. His effort in the relationships with his many good friends and family was in turning ones focus instead to outright laughter for a sometimes cynical - and always funny – outlook on life.
Bobby is survived by his daughter, Ali Szkutnik (engaged to Thomas Jarratt) of Greeneville, TN; his love, Susie Brown; step daughter Brandi (and her children Bella and Chase); step-son Matt and his wife Misty (and their sons Murphy and Miles); Ali's Mother and long time friend, Teri (Robertson). He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Joseph and Virginia Szkutnik of Toledo, OH. Bobby is also survived by 7 siblings; sisters Kathleen (Hoover) of Toledo; Barbara of Battleground, WA; brothers Dennis (Carol) of Perrysburg, OH; Jeffrey of Temperance, MI; John (Karen) of Canton, MI as well as step mother Shirley Szkutnik, step brothers Bruce (Mary Jane) and Garry Roberts (Jan), also of Toledo.
A celebration of life was held at the American Legion Hall, Post 129 at 1151 4th St S, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250 on Tuesday at 5pm.
Arrangements are under the direction of HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL.
