Aliene B Rountree

Aliene Burton Rountree, 74, went home to Jesus on March 18, 2011. Mrs. Rountree was a native of Gates, NC, and lived in Virginia Beach, VA for 52 years, before moving to Middleburg, FL four years ago. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, VA.

In 1953 Mrs. Rountree was crowned Miss Gates in the Albemarle Potato Festival, in Elizabeth City, NC. In 1954, Mrs. Rountree left high school to get married and did not graduate with her classmates. However, in her early forties, while still raising her family, she went back to school and proudly earned her GED so that she would be able to work with deaf children at the local elementary school. She loved word search puzzles, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, Scrabble games, cross-stitch needlework, eating out, and shopping with her daughter. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever possible.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harry Lee Rountree; her parents, Clyde & Annie Mary Burton, and a sister, Mary B. Councill.

Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Rountree Williams and her husband Steve, of Las Vegas, NV; two sons, Ronald D. Rountree, and his wife Rehia of Middleburg, FL and Alan D. Rountree, and his wife Pam of Orange Park, FL; a sister Dorothy a Liverman and her husband Rupert of Cofield, NC; six grandchildren, Michael Lee Schuman, of Ogden, UT; David Lee Schuman of Euless, TX; Jennifer D. Johnson, and her husband Rob of Green Cove Springs, FL; Jeffrey D. Rountree, and his wife Erica of College Place, WA; Trevor D. Rountree of Orange Park, FL; Corey A. Rountree of Orange Park, FL; and eleven great-grandchildren. She will be missed by many!

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 25th, 2011 in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL. Interment will be at Riverside Memorial Park.
