

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Addie Annette “Net-Net” McCart Mears, age 81, on November 21, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida. Born on September 2, 1944, in Eastville, Georgia, to J.R. and Mary “Bessie” McCart, Annette was the sixth of seven children. In 1960, she moved with her parents to Jacksonville, where she graduated from Englewood High School in 1962.
Annette was a true fighter. For 14 years, she bravely battled Multiple Myeloma, which later progressed to Secondary Plasma Cell Leukemia. Her strength and determination were an inspiration to all who knew her.
A dedicated and hardworking woman, Annette began her career at Dubl-Chek of Florida while still in high school. She later opened her own collection agency and eventually joined Arlington Wrecker and Salvage, working alongside her brother, Jack McCart. In time, she purchased the Heavy Hauling Division and founded Arlington Heavy Hauling with her husband and son, continuing to lead the business until her retirement in 2016 due to health challenges.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Francis Moore and Edna Wright; and brothers Joe McCart (Nancy), Jack McCart (Shirley), and Bob McCart (Gloria). She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 33 years, Harvey A. Mears, Jr.; her children, Lisa Randall (Eddie) and Gary Ayers (Gina); her grandchildren, Kyle Lucas (Christina) and Kady Lucas; her younger brother, Larry McCart; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A faithful member of Spring Glen Methodist Church, Annette shared her life and faith with her loving husband and family.
Visitation will be held at Spring Glen Methodist Church, 6007 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., immediately followed by the funeral service and reception.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Community Hospice & Palliative Care or Cancer Specialists of North Florida.
