Born on January 9, 1954, in Aparri, Cagayan, Philippines, Caroline was a radiant soul whose joy and warmth touched the lives of everyone she met. Driven by a profound desire to help others, she pursued a career in nursing, obtaining her degree from St. Rita Hospital College of Nursing in Manila, Philippines. As a devoted Navy wife, Caroline embraced the adventures of military life, forming lasting friendships and creating cherished memories while living in Guam, Honolulu, Hawaii, San Diego, California, and Naples, Italy, before finally settling in Jacksonville, Florida.
Caroline began her nursing career at Guam Memorial Hospital in Guam before continuing her journey at Kuakini Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. She devoted over 30 years to her role as a Nurse Medical Coordinator at UF Health Jacksonville, where her compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment made a lasting impact on countless patients and colleagues. Caroline's legacy in nursing is a testament not only to her professional dedication but also to her profound belief in the healing power of kindness and care.
A devoted Catholic, Caroline was an active member of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Jacksonville, Florida, where her faith served as the cornerstone of her life. Through her involvement with the Alliance of the Two Hearts, she deepened her spiritual commitment and love for God. Caroline found immense fulfillment in volunteering at her church and its soup kitchen, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her passion for service also led her on numerous Catholic mission trips around the world, where she made a meaningful difference in the lives of others while creating memories along the way.
In addition to her professional accomplishments and community involvement, Caroline embodied the rich traditions and values of her Filipino heritage. She infused every gathering with warmth and hospitality, gracefully sharing her culture with those around her. Known for her culinary talents, Caroline expressed her love through cooking authentic Filipino dishes. Her kitchen was a haven filled with delicious aromas, laughter, and togetherness, where family and friends created lasting memories around the table.
Caroline’s greatest pride and joy were her family. She was the loving wife of Jimmy D. Tizo Jr. for 46 wonderful years, a devoted mother to daughters Jennifer Prieto and Karla Jean Ebio, and an adored “Lola” to her three grandsons, Nolan Prieto, Daxon Prieto, and Cameron Ebio. Her love knew no bounds, and her family was the center of her universe. She also leaves behind her beloved sons-in-law, Clayton Prieto and Christian Ebio, both of whom she held close to her heart.
Caroline is survived by her cherished 99-year-old mother, Rosita Garaza Pascua, and her siblings—Arthur Cabading Pascua, Elizabeth Pascua Gacusan, Florence Pascua Verdadero, and Gerry Garaza Pascua—along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members in Hawaii and the Philippines. She was preceded in death by her father, Teodoro Tailan Pascua, and her brothers, Benedicto Pascua and Teodoro Garaza Pascua Jr.
Caroline Pascua Tizo will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire those she touched. Rest peacefully, Caroline. Your spirit will forever live on in our hearts.
