Charlotte was born June 13, 1938 in Anderson, South Carolina to parents Claude Doker and Mary Nell (Bray) Doker, who were responsible for bringing the first Catholic church to Hartwell, Georgia. She was raised in the Hartwell area as one of five children, and graduated Hart County High School in 1956. Charlotte’s first career and love was that of being a “Navy wife” and homemaker raising her three children. Her second career and passion was being an elder care nurse, a path she chose when she unexpectedly became a widow and single mother at the young age of 45. She was a devout Catholic and devoted caretaker for domestic and wild animals alike, and she had a love of classic Hollywood movies, the antebellum South, playing cards, and football (especially her beloved UGA Bulldogs).
Charlotte is survived by her three children Kimberly (Bobby) Warfield, Donna Molina, and Greg (Heather), her seven grandchildren (a.k.a. her “chickadees”) Alex, Blake, Isabella, Connor, Finn, Whitson, and Mollie, as well as her sibling Bonita Gail (Doker) Phillips. She was preceded in death by her husband, HMCS (ret.) Otis Earl Blackwell, her parents Claude and Mary Nell Doker, her siblings Mary, Jean, and Kenneth, and a list of pet birds, dogs, and various small creatures that is simply too long to include. Charlotte was a constant source of support, comfort, inspiration, and laughter for her family and community, and she was the spiritual “rock” to which many turned to for guidance and advice over the years. Her absence has left a void that will be difficult to fill. She will be missed dearly by all whose lives she touched, and the world is a dimmer place from her passing.
A celebration of life will be held at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, located at 850 St. Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, Florida 32225 on January 2, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on January 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, located at 11665 Fort Caroline Road, Jacksonville, FL 32225. She will be reunited with and buried alongside her husband Earl on January 10, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nancy Hart Memorial Park at 1171 Royston Highway, Hartwell, GA 30643. A graveside service will be held at that time as well. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital.
