

Cheryl Brown Almond, age 77, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2021. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida on September 23, 1944. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and attended North Florida College in Madison, Florida, where she earned her Associates Degree. She worked in various industries throughout her career and was employed by such companies as Peninsular Life Insurance Company and Jim Walter Papers to name a few. She also served as Legislative Assistant for the State of Florida and had most recently worked for Senator Stephen Wise just before she retired.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Joseph Almond and her two children, Catherine Steckner (husband David) and Ray Phillips (wife Mary). She has two grandchildren, Donnie Phillips, and Lauren Jarman (husband Eugene) and two great grandchildren, Dixie’Ana Jarman and Axl Jarman. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Raymond and Geraldine Brown and her granddaughter, Lauren E. Phillips.
Cheryl was a spiritual, Christian woman and while a very private person, she was firm in her faith. She was an avid reader who enjoyed reading about history, Syfy, travel and nature. She enjoyed writing and wrote a few poems that were published as well. She enjoyed nature (flowers, butterflies, rocks), music, animals and wildlife. She had a creative mind and liked to dabble with painting and artistic projects. She was a patriot who loved her country very much and was very passionate when it came to politics. Cheryl was a member of the Jacksonville Beach Chapter of the Moose Lodge, Chapter 1558, and a Women of the Moose member.
Cheryl’s life will be honored by a close, privately held graveside service with her family on Friday, October 29th at 11:00 am at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park.
