

Dennis Foy Peavy, 75, passed away peacefully at Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside during an unfinished battle with cancer. He is survived by his daughter Angela Peavy, grandson Anthony Peavy, brother Danny Peavy (Barbara), sister Deborah Lott (Stanley), and sister Kay Normandin (Ty). He is predeceased by his wife Doris Eileen Peavy (49 years), parents Foy Carl Peavy & Mary Ellen Stewart Peavy.
Dennis was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on August 7, 1947, and graduated from Paxon High School in 1965. In his early years, he was a volunteer firefighter, then joined the United States Navy Reserves in 1967, where he achieved the rank of ATN3. He married Doris Eileen Peavy on June 14, 1969, at Faith Memorial Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Dennis had an unmatched work ethic and became the owner of Rodgers Construction Company before taking a short retirement in 2008. Dennis was not one to sit idle for very long, which led to him becoming a Heavy Equipment Operator for Burnham Construction Inc. for the last 13 years. In his spare time, he loved fishing, hunting, golf, NASCAR & dirt track racing. He also shared ownership of DP Racing Inc. with his late wife, which competed in & traveled with the National Late Model Sportsman Series.
Visitation will be held between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32205.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, with David Thomas of Christian Fellowship Temple officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park across from the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be David Burnham, Chad Taylor, Dale Nettles, Steve Kelly, Chris Brantley, and Chris Burnsed.
In lieu of flowers, it was Dennis’ wish that donations be made to Ionic Lodge #101, P.O. Box 1103, Jacksonville, FL 32201.
